Day -17

Just some random thoughts today.

The hair is a complete mess today. Probably doesn’t help that I’ve been a bum most of the day, but it did look better when I was out and about.

The Expendables was really good. Much better than I was expecting it to be. A lot of recent action stars, but also a lot of action stars that were past their prime in the 90s. I recommend it to everyone that enjoys action films.

Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World was just as good the second time as it was the first time.

Kansas needs to stop closing roads and half of interstates. It really makes getting to places difficult. Especially when you were unaware of the closures when planning out your time.

Blinkers. They come installed on your car for free. They should be used. You are going to cause an accident one day. If you don’t know how to use them, I will show you. It’s actually really simple. First graders could figure it out, so why can’t you?

I found out today that Little Debbie makes S’mores. So I bought a box. Oh. My. God. Somebody needs to steal my box before I eat them all.

Day -22

I think this picture says a lot. Namely, I have not cut my hair in a long time. I do not even remember the last time I got my hair cut. Maybe late May/early June. I don’t know when I’ll cut it again; for now, I’m letting it grow.

It’s been a slow progression, but over the last few years, my hairline has slowly begun receding. I know it’s inevitable that in the next 10-15 years, it will be apparent to all. And when that day comes, I’m shaving it all off. So while I still have hair, why not let it grow out? I’ve never had long hair. This is probably the longest it has ever been, by about a month.

And that’s where the problem comes in. This morning, my hair officially passed critical mass. When you’ve had the same haircut and generally the same hair length for 20 or so years, you get used to the exact amount of shampoo you need. You can make that perfect little circle without even looking or thinking about what you’re doing. And for the past few weeks, that has still worked. But not anymore. My hair has forced me into a new level of shampoo. I’m now going to run through shampoo 25% quicker.

The next milestone: when the hair passes my ears. I can lay it flat on the side of my head now, and while it reaches past my ears, most of it is left tickling the insides. Maybe one day I’ll have a beautiful mane of hair like Mr. Brock Aun. Or at least learn how to tame what I do have.

I thought about getting into it now, but I’ll hold off. Unless something exciting happens tomorrow, it’s all about Scott Pilgrim.
